VOTING RIGHTS

Do you know if your poll closes while you’re in line, stay in line? You have the right to vote. Or if you make a mistake on your ballot, do you know you can ask for a new one? Or you have the right to a provisional ballot?

Voting rights are under attack, and that means your voice in this democracy is being stolen from you. Which means voting has never been more important. Check out When We Vote to learn more about your voting rights. The ACLU has a terrific Know Your Rights list that covers any scenario.

DEPT. OF JUSTICE ELECTION MONITORS

In July 2026, do you know the DOJ took several unprecedented actions to interfer in the democratic election process?

The DOJ has had a long-running effort to monitor compliance with voting rights, without incident. However, the DOJ has now invoked false and disproven theories about election security, and “expanding” monitoring of the November 2026 midterm election, it sent letters to 50 states and Washington, D.C. threatening election officials with potential criminal charges over false allegations of noncitizen voting.

We all have a part to play. The Campaign Legal Center created explainers for voters, grassroots partners, and state and local election officials to help all of us better understand the scope and limitations on federal monitoring authority. Here is a link to that helpful 1-pager.
